About Mark Williams

Mark Williams is a leading advisor in the economics of UK and EC competition policy and merger control. He has advised over the last 15 years on over 100 competition policy cases, providing a level of expertise, experience and insight derived from detailed involvement in many of the major competition and regulatory cases of modern times.

He has specific expertise in the field of UK market investigations and their particular focus on market-wide features; and he has advised companies in numerous such cases, including New Motor Cars, Groceries, BAA, Audit and Private Healthcare.

He also has a strong record of providing high-level strategic competition advice in a range of prominent global M&A situations. His merger work includes the defence of InBev/Anheuser Busch, Thomson/Reuters, EdF/British Energy, and Universal Music/BMG.

He has previously taught Economics at Oxford University and headed the European Competition Practice of US consultancy NERA. Mark Williams was educated at Oxford (BA, MPhil, DPhil).
